: : THE HISTORY OF MOLE HILL |
Mole Hill was founded in 1999 by Lance Walsky and Joan York in Fairfield, CT. Both were formerly with United Brands International [UBI] in New York where Lance served as CEO and managed all aspects of growth and operations. Under his leadership UBI grew to a $24 Million dollar a year company, with a staff of over 60 full time employees, that created a market for the apparel licensing industry which previously didn't exist.
UBI held licenses from all the major studios and sports leagues, including Looney Toons, Batman, Star Wars, Lucas Film, Spiderman, along with the NBA, MLB, NFL, as well aa the US Open for the USTA and the Winter Olympics. As the entertainment licensing industry shifted to the mass market it became progressively difficut to create high quality, domestically produced apparel.
The two formed Mole Hill in 1999 with the one license they believed shared their vision and standards of quality, design and production. We have been a licensee of the US Open Tennis Championships ever since. At Mole Hill our philosophy is 'Do what you love and you'll never have to go to work.' |
